A dust collector inspection schedule should be based on risk, dust loading, system history, and how much a failure would affect production, safety, housekeeping, or compliance. The right answer is rarely “never until it breaks.”
The goal is not just to “look at the collector.” The goal is to catch performance drift before it becomes downtime, bad housekeeping, poor capture, filter waste, or a rushed capital decision.

If hoods or branches are not pulling like they used to, check for filter loading, duct restrictions, closed dampers, fan issues, or system imbalance.

Short filter life can point to high dust loading, poor cleaning, moisture, oil, incorrect media, hopper issues, or airflow problems.

New machines, changed hoods, added branches, different materials, or production increases can change the whole system balance.
